McMillan Woods Global Awards 2024 presented RM100,000.00 Mock Cheque to National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM)
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 23 December 2024 – McMillan Woods Global Awards 2024 reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility by presenting an initial mock cheque worth RM100,000.00 to the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM).
The donation, made under the McM Cares Programme, marks NASOM as the primary charitable beneficiary for 2024. While the awards annually support multiple charity organisations, this year’s primary focus has been on raising funds for NASOM to aid in its mission of providing education, therapy and advocacy for individuals with autism.
Julian Wong, President of NASOM, graciously accepted the donation and expressed deep appreciation for McMillan Woods’ continuous support. “This generous contribution will have a significant impact on our programmes, allowing us to improve services, resources and facilities for individuals with autism across Malaysia. We are truly grateful for McMillan Woods’ commitment to making a difference,” he said.
Rachel Hsu Xin, Organising Chairperson of the McMillan Woods Global Awards 2024, highlighted the importance of giving back. “Through the McM Cares Programme, we aim to create lasting change by supporting meaningful causes. NASOM’s unwavering dedication to improving the lives of individuals with autism resonates with our mission, and we are honoured to contribute to their efforts,” she stated.
The cheque presentation took place at NASOM’s centre, attended by McMillan Woods Founding President, Dato Seri Dr. Raymond Liew (DSRL), key representatives from McMillan Woods Global Awards and NASOM committees. The funds raised will directly contribute to enhancing NASOM’s programmes, ensuring better access to specialised education and support services for individuals on the autism spectrum.
The McMillan Woods Global Awards is an annual event that not only recognises excellence across industries but also prioritises philanthropy. By selecting NASOM as the primary donation recipient for 2024, the awards organisation continues to demonstrate its commitment to meaningful corporate social responsibility. McMillan Woods Global Awards also expressed its heartfelt gratitude to every individual who contributed to the fundraising efforts, whether through donations, sponsorships, or support in making this initiative a success. “This achievement would not have been possible without the generosity and kindness of our sponsors, partners, and donors who share our vision of giving back to society,” Rachel added.
During the event, DSRL also took the opportunity to promote his book, In My Father’s Footsteps: Navigating Business and Philanthropy. More than just sharing his journey of balancing business and philanthropy, DSRL announced that 100% of the proceeds from book sales made through NASOM will go directly to the organisation. This initiative provides an additional avenue for fundraising, allowing supporters to contribute to NASOM while gaining valuable insights from his experiences.
